Scripture: 1 Tim. 5-6; Tit. 1-3

1 Timothy 6:11-12
But you, Timothy, man of God: Run for your life from all this. Pursue a righteous life—a life of wonder, faith, love, steadiness, courtesy. Run hard and fast in the faith. Seize the eternal life, the life you were called to, the life you so fervently embraced in the presence of so many witnesses.

Observations: “All this” is the pursuit of money and riches. Paul instructs Timothy that his goals should be “Wonder, faith, love, steadiness, and courtesy.”

Application: I wonder about a lot of things, and I find myself curious about, in awe of, and admiring this world God has given to us to care for. I think that this may be an underrated notion in the church. Seeking God begins with curiosity about God’s nature and actions in the world. I wonder what God will do next. . .

Prayer:  Hi God. Thanks for loving us so much. I wonder why sometimes. Help me to focus on the mystery of you, avoiding the tendency I have to deal only with the things I fully understand. In Christ, Amen.
