SCRIPTURE: 2 Sam. 11-12; Ps. 51; Matt. 23

2 Sam 12:7 “You’re the man!” said Nathan.

OBSERVATION: David was the man of the hour. And he was the man of guilt in Nathan’s story. His talents and skills and abilities did not allow him to do wrong without paying the price.

APPLICATION: When things are going really well, that’s the time to guard against thinking that I’m “ten feet tall and bullet-proof.” Mostly because I’m not, but also because ego can try to sneak in and justify cutting corners, or taking the easy way, or inflicting my will on others.

PRAYER: God, I’m sorry for the days when I’ve been “the man.”  None of my success is my own, but all of my failings are mine. Thank you for sending the Nathans into my life. Amen.
