SCRIPTURE: Is. 1-3; Tit. 3

Isaiah 1:16-17
Go home and wash up.
Clean up your act.
Sweep your lives clean of your evildoings
so I don’t have to look at them any longer.
Say no to wrong.
Learn to do good.
Work for justice.
Help the down-and-out.
Stand up for the homeless.
Go to bat for the defenseless.

OBSERVATIONS: Better than half of this pericope has to do with “knock off all that evil.” But even Isaiah knew that there had to be something in place of the bad habits that would keep them from returning.

APPLICATION: I will look for justice issues here in Paducah. I will find the down and out and work to make them the up and coming. I will seek to be a friend to those without homes or families. And I will endeavor to defend the defenseless.

PRAYER: Help me, O God, to seek your ways. Show me that my job is more than words. Create in me a heart that worships you out of the abundance of ministry that you provide for me. In and through Christ I pray, Amen.
