Scripture: Josh. 12-14; 1 Cor. 7

1 Corinthians 7:29-31 I do want to point out, friends, that time is of the essence. There is no time to waste, so don’t complicate your lives unnecessarily. Keep it simple —in marriage, grief, joy, whatever. Even in ordinary things—your daily routines of shopping, and so on. Deal as sparingly as possible with the things the world thrusts on you. This world as you see it is on its way out.

Observations: Simplicity is the order of the day. But choosing and embracing simplicity is difficult when dealing with a world that grows more and more complicated. Knowing that the world is changing around us and because of us, we can take heart in knowing that our simplicity often begets more simplicity.

Application: I will choose the most direct path. I will take the shortest and simplest route. I will focus on the heart of every task and I will accomplish my work with elegance rather than complexity.

Prayer: Lord, I beg of you to show me simpler ways to do that which you are calling me to do. Help me to lay aside that which does not conform with the core principals of that work to which you call me.  Amen.
