SCRIPTURE: Is. 57-59; Ps. 103; 2 Pet. 3
Isaiah 57:14
Someone says: “Build, build! Make a road!
Clear the way, remove the rocks
from the road my people will travel.”
OBSERVATIONS: So many times, the people of Israel faced obstacles of their own making. In this case, Isaiah is challenged to make a clear path for the Israelites to travel.
APPLICATION: There’s too much rubble in the road of discipleship. Stumbling blocks? You bet. And it becomes necessary for us to clean the path for folks to follow.
PRAYER: God, give me strength to deal with those who are more interested in being right than righteous–especially when those persons are me. Help me see the clear definition of the path that I am to clear. The important thing is the journey, not the specifications of the bridges along the way. Let them be strong and durable–elegant in ways that will withstand the nit-picking of the world. Through Christ, Amen.
