SCRIPTURE: Ezek. 42-44; Rev. 22

 Ezekiel 44:23
“Their job is to teach my people the difference between the holy and the common, to show them how to discern between unclean and clean.

OBSERVATIONS: With the very idea of unclean, one becomes defensive. Anything that is unclean can take away your state of cleanness. Without overstating the “invulnerable” state of grace, one has a sort of Teflon effect with the baptism of Christ. That which defiles cannot overcome.

APPLICATION: Don’t get caught up in the trivialities. Focus on living holy (set apart), not being set apart. Without life in our action and action in our life, holiness is an effort wasted on me. What are the things that make for peace? What are the actions that open me to grace? What are the things that I can do to empty myself so that there is even more room for Jesus?

PRAYER: Lord Christ , I have deep and abiding fears of being less-than and unworthy. I’m sorry for the ways that I sometimes timidly live the live you’ve given me to replace that life of fear and death. Help me to overcome and ignore the effects of holy vs. common or unclean so that I can endure onslaught of the world.
