SCRIPTURE: Zech. 7-9; Luke 13

Zecheriah 7:5-6
“When you held days of fasting every fifth and seventh month all these seventy years, were you doing it for me? And when you held feasts, was that for me? Hardly. You’re interested in religion, I’m interested in people.

Luke 13:26-27
“You’ll protest, ‘But we’ve known you all our lives!’ only to be interrupted with his abrupt, ‘Your kind of knowing can hardly be called knowing. You don’t know the first thing about me.’

OBSERVATION: God is interested in people. So why am I innundated with work on programming? The work must converge on people and community, and perhaps quicker than I had planned. God is also interested in people becoming more interested in Him. Most personal relationships begin with introductions.

APPLICATION: Find ways to make ministry people-centric rather than process oriented. “Disciples are hand-crafted, one at a time.”

PRAYER: Lord, break my heart so that your children, my brothers and sisters are as important to me as they are to you–or as near to it as I can stand. Because of Christ, I ask this. Amen.
