SCRIPTURE: Neh. 3-4; Ps. 134; Luke 23

Nehemiah 4:3
At his side, Tobiah the Ammonite jumped in and said, “That’s right! What do they think they’re building? Why, if a fox climbed that wall, it would fall to pieces under his weight.”

OBSERVATIONS: Can’t get back to normal overnight. Building in haste while fighting a battle can be a glorious thing, but not necessarily the best way to get it done. Shoddy, fast-paced workmanship can result in horrible consequences.

APPLICATION: Taking Trinity into a building program while we are still putting pieces of our ‘armor’ in place doesn’t bode well. I think this passage is a reminder to take it easy on the bricks and mortar until we have been built into a house of God on a firm foundation.

PRAYER: Teach me that the sanctuary of our hearts is priority over a larger place of worship. Remind me that you inhabit our praises and not our courts and narthex. Grant me patience to see the job through rather than just seeing it done. In Christ, Amen.
