SCRIPTURE:
1 Samuel 14; 1 Chronicles 4; 2 Corinthians 13

Test yourselves to make sure you are solid in the faith. Don’t drift along taking everything for granted. Give yourselves regular checkups. You need firsthand evidence, not mere hearsay, that Jesus Christ is in you. Test it out. If you fail the test, do something about it. I hope the test won’t show that we have failed. But if it comes to that, we’d rather the test showed our failure than yours. We’re rooting for the truth to win out in you. We couldn’t possibly do otherwise.

2 Corinthians 13:5-9

OBSERVATIONS: Christianity is about what we do and who we are, not just what we believe. The real test is in our living with the people around us and how we love one another. We should test ourselves often and correct the problems we find.

APPLICATION: Joey, what are your weak points? What are the places in your life where you can do better? How can you learn from your mistakes? Start with admitting them.

PRAYER: God, show me my problems, my failings, and my weaknesses so that I can fill them — not with myself, but with you. In Christ’s name I ask it. Amen.
