SCRIPTURE: 1 Kings 17-19; Colossians 2

1 Kings 19:15-18

15-18 God said, “Go back the way you came through the desert to Damascus. When you get there anoint Hazael; make him king over Aram. Then anoint Jehu son of Nimshi; make him king over Israel. Finally, anoint Elisha son of Shaphat from Abel Meholah to succeed you as prophet. Anyone who escapes death by Hazael will be killed by Jehu; and anyone who escapes death by Jehu will be killed by Elisha. Meanwhile, I’m preserving for myself seven thousand souls: the knees that haven’t bowed to the god Baal, the mouths that haven’t kissed his image.”

OBSERVATIONS: Elijah’s tasks centered around speaking God’s Word to the people of Israel and the surrounding nations. But one of his cheif responsibilities was raising up leaders with the call and the anointing.

APPLICATION: Joey, you have leaders who don’t know that they are leaders. They aren’t sure how to lead or even which way to go, but God’s calling is upon them. Get busy listening for God’s voice to call out their names and when He does, go to them with the anointing of guidance and calling.

PRAYER: God, speak the names of your leaders to my heart that I might be faithful to your calling to raise them up for the sake of your Kingdom. Through Christ alone, Amen.
