SCRIPTURE: 2 Kings 22; 2 Chronicles 34; John 6

2 Chronicles 34:33
Josiah did a thorough job of cleaning up the pollution that had spread throughout Israelite territory and got everyone started fresh again, serving and worshiping their God. All through Josiah’s life the people kept to the straight and narrow, obediently following God, the God of their ancestors.

John 6:5-6
When Jesus looked out and saw that a large crowd had arrived, he said to Philip, “Where can we buy bread to feed these people?” He said this to stretch Philip’s faith. He already knew what he was going to do.

OBSERVATIONS: People need guidance to follow the ways of the Lord. Ethics, grace, and forgiveness each require examples. Also, Jesus expects a lot of us, but provides the means to achieve those expectations.

APPLICATION: Joey, clean out my temple. Set an example for the people that will be clear and easy to follow, if they are paying attention. Remember that I won’t ask you to do anything that you aren’t able to do with my help.

PRAYER: Thank you, God, for trusting me with the hard jobs. Without your help, I am nothing. Be my guide in this endeavor that your Name might be glorified. Amen.
