Scripture: Ps. 121; Mark 9-10

Mark 9:1
Then he drove it home by saying, “This isn’t pie in the sky by and by. Some of you who are standing here are going to see it happen, see the kingdom of God arrive in full force.”

Observations: The coming of the kingdom has usually been described as a supernatural event that cannot take place without the intervention of the Deity. That’s pretty accurate, but we forget that we have a part in that as well. Jesus had the same problem explaining it to the disciples…

Application: What does the Kingdom look like? How can I bring the Kingdom to my corner of the world? I need to be thinking GODLY, not globally, and then acting locally.

Mark 10:17-21
As he went out into the street, a man came running up, greeted him with great reverence, and asked, “Good Teacher, what must I do to get eternal life?”

Jesus said, “Why are you calling me good? No one is good, only God. You know the commandments: Don’t murder, don’t commit adultery, don’t steal, don’t lie, don’t cheat, honor your father and mother.”

He said, “Teacher, I have—from my youth—kept them all!”

Jesus looked him hard in the eye—and loved him! He said, “There’s one thing left: Go sell whatever you own and give it to the poor. All your wealth will then be heavenly wealth. And come follow me.”

Prayer: God, help me be a Kingdom Builder in all that I do and say. And when it gets really difficult, remind me of the difficulty of the Cross, that I might understand how much more your Son endured. Amen.
