SCRIPTURE: 1 Kings 3; 2 Chr. 1; Ps. 78; 2 Th. 2
1Kings 3:9
“Here’s what I want: Give me a God-listening heart so I can lead your people well, discerning the difference between good and evil. For who on their own is capable of leading your glorious people?”
OBSERVATIONS: Amazing. This translation isn’t “WISDOM” as in the ever popular WISDOM OF SOLOMON. This is about listening to God. Letting God’s voice speak into the heart of hearts, so that the right decisions are natural outgrowth of my relationship with God.
APPLICATION: Don’t try to earn a God-listening heart. Don’t try to develop a God-listening heart. Do ask for God to give me one (again). Do maintain it. Do honor the time that it takes to listen, eager for the moment when God clears his throat so that I don’t miss a single Word.
PRAYER: Here’s what I want: Give me a God-listening heart so I can lead your people well. Then, speak Lord, for your servant is listening. Amen
