SCRIPTURE: Gen. 42-43; Ps. 5; Luke 17

Psalm 5:1-3
Listen, God! Please, pay attention! Can you make sense of these ramblings, my groans and cries? King-God, I need your help.
Every morning
you’ll hear me at it again.
Every morning
I lay out the pieces of my life
on your altar
and watch for fire to descend.

Luke 17:20-21
Jesus, grilled by the Pharisees on when the kingdom of God would come, answered, “The kingdom of God doesn’t come by counting the days on the calendar. Nor when someone says, ‘Look here!’ or, ‘There it is!’ And why? Because God’s kingdom is already among you.”

OBSERVATIONS: The psalmist evidently served God in a time of transition. The world changes so quickly. Life flies past, and a person’s soul barely has time to groan, struggling to make sense of the mind, body, and soul’s innate responses.

APPLICATION: God knows and understands the difficulties facing each of us. I am no different in that regard. And so I offer to God the broken pieces of my life, the failure to be truly human and the frequent failure to see others as people sharing brokenness and sorrow and joy and pain.

PRAYER: Your Son became fully human to help us see you seeing us more clearly. Help me to return the favor with every moment of my life. Through Christ, fully human, fully God, Amen.
