SCRIPTURE: 2 Kings 10; 2 Chronicles 22-23; 1 Timothy 5

1 Timothy 5:19
19Don’t listen to a complaint against a leader that isn’t backed up by two or three responsible witnesses.

OBSERVATIONS: At times, I’ve used this defensively to turn away the nay-sayers at churches I’ve served. Today, this word speaks a different tone.

APPLICATION: Joey, you need more input. Pats on the back from folks in the pew are insufficient to the task. You should be receiving “complaints” regularly from a handful of trusted, responsible coworkers in Christ. And it’s your responsibility to solicit those responses. Call them today.

PRAYER: God, make plain the faces of those who can and should be trusted to say the hard things I need to hear as a leader. Let the complaints be clear and precise, and may my ears and heart be open to receive them. For the sake of the Kingdom, and the King we serve, Amen.
