SCRIPTURE: 2 Kings 13-14; 2 Chr. 25; 2 Tim. 3

II Kings 13:18-21
“Now pick up the other arrows,” said Elisha. He picked them up.

Then he said to the king of Israel, “Strike the ground.”

The king struck the ground three times and then quit.

The Holy Man became angry with him: “Why didn’t you hit the ground five or six times? Then you would beat Aram until he was finished. As it is, you’ll defeat him three times only.”

Then Elisha died and they buried him.

OBSERVATIONS: Like Abraham who failed to ask one more time for the cities of Sodom and Gommorrah, the King was not persistent. He struck only enough to satisfy himself, but not enough to do the job properly.

APPLICATION: Joseph, FOLLOW THROUGH. You’ve heard this all your life. Hit it again. And again. You showed pictures of the babies from VBS. Why weren’t they PRESENT? Because you didn’t follow through.

PRAYER:  God, forgive my three pounds on the ground. Would that they were seven or seventy or seven hundred. Remind me to follow through, God. For Christ’s sake, I ask it of You. Amen.
