Scripture: Rom. 9-12

Romans 11:5-6
It’s the same today. There’s a fiercely loyal minority still—not many, perhaps, but probably more than you think. They’re holding on, not because of what they think they’re going to get out of it, but because they’re convinced of God’s grace and purpose in choosing them. If they were only thinking of their own immediate self-interest, they would have left long ago.

Observations: When I read this, I think that Christianity loses something when it becomes the most popular thing going. It is primarily counter-cultural. So it only makes sense that it would appeal to those who are outside of the mainstream.

Applications: I must be careful not to allow the popular interpretation of Scripture automatically become the interpretation of Scripture. I must be mindful that God chose me for His purpose, and not the other way around.

Prayer: God, help me to maintain my loyalty to You above all others, in and through Christ, Amen.
