SCRIPTURE: Jer. 10-12; John 14
John 14:23-24
“Because a loveless world,” said Jesus, “is a sightless world. If anyone loves me, he will carefully keep my word and my Father will love him—we’ll move right into the neighborhood! Not loving me means not keeping my words. The message you are hearing isn’t mine. It’s the message of the Father who sent me.
OBSERVATIONS: We go through life taught not to look at people who are misfortuned, mishapen, broken, and injured. “Don’t look, Ethel.” “It’s not polite to stare, Johnny.” “Move along, folks; nothing to see here.”
APPLICATION: I will look. I will stare. I will not move along. I will see. I will take in the tragedy and I will be present to it.
PRAYER: Strengthen me to break down the barriers. Help me to overcome my hesitation and fear. Move me beyond my comfort zone. Because your Son did it first, let me do it after His example, for I pray in His name. Amen.
