SCRIPTURE: Ezek. 25-28; Rev. 10
Ezekiel 25:2-4
This is what God has to say: Because you cheered when my Sanctuary was desecrated and the land of Judah was devastated and the people of Israel were taken into exile, I’m giving you over to the people of the east.
OBSERVATION: Cheering for the downfall of God’s Chosen is a dangerous business. Rejoicing over the death of one’s enemy is just as dangerous. One must be cautious about who is and who isn’t under God’s favor. Given the grace demonstrated in the New Testament, I’m beginning to think that God expects us to be sad when misfortune befalls anyone.
APPLICATION: Redouble prayers for my enemies. Consider those who disagree with me to be friends with different opinions. Create a place in my prayer life for the consideration of the needs of others despite the fact that they disagree with me.
PRAYER: God, teach me to love your laws perfectly. And to perfectly love those who abandon your laws, not for their actions, but for the sake of Christ. In his name I pray this and all other prayers, Amen.
