SCRIPTURE: 2 Kings 17; 2 Chr. 28; Ps. 46; Jas. 3
James 3:5-6
It only takes a spark, remember, to set off a forest fire. A careless or wrongly placed word out of your mouth can do that. By our speech we can ruin the world, turn harmony to chaos, throw mud on a reputation, send the whole world up in smoke and go up in smoke with it, smoke right from the pit of hell.
OBSERVATIONS: Some days the spark, some days the forest.
APPLICATION: Joey, pick a hat. Decide your priority — renew your priority to say and do only the things that will glorify Me.
PRAYER: God, stamp out the sparks that issue from me. Stop up my voice that would ruin the world, throw mud… Let me instead transform the world with your grace, turn chaos to harmony, clean up and redeem folks in Your Name, and clear out the smoke of Hell by baptizing all my relationships in the Water of Life.
