SCRIPTURE:  Hos. 6-9; Heb. 3

Hosea 6:6 – I’m after love that lasts, not more religion.

OBSERVATIONS: We’re studying the Love Dare in our Sunday School Class (inspired by the movie Fireproof). Love is a decision. It isn’t a feeling. But I’m wondering how that is different from “religion.” Religion is literally “that to which I bind myself.” Ligios, the same base from which we get “ligature’ and ‘ligament.’ Perhaps what God is after here is a ‘felt decision’ — one that is the best combination of emotion and logic; rational and irrational.

APPLICATION: Surrender. Total and complete surrender to the love of God and returning that love to God through the people around me.

PRAYER: God help me to unleash the fresh love of Christ in every moment of every day. Through Christ and in Christ I pray, Amen.
