SCRIPTURE: Isaiah 19-21; Hebrews 11

Hebrews 11:1-2
The fundamental fact of existence is that this trust in God, this faith, is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living. It’s our handle on what we can’t see. The act of faith is what distinguished our ancestors, set them above the crowd.

OBSERVATIONS: Christianity has always been about transformation. We are called daily to reconfigure our thoughts, our habits, our behavior, our community, and our world. Since we are transforming into the “not yet,” we must have faith in the God who calls for this change. We must trust that the outcome is better than the status quo. Seeing how our ancestors trusted and succeeded is the basis for faith. The trustworthiness of God’s character is the key issue.

APPLICATION: Joey, you must strive for what has yet to be. The community you envision is not yet a reality, but you have been given a glimpse of My plan for bringing it into being. You are not merely a caretaker. You are not merely a curator. You are an agent of change, a means of renewing and transforming My people. Close your eyes to the world around you in favor of the one that I am calling into being through you and the people you love and lead.

PRAYER: God, give me boldness and wisdom. I think I know your will, but I need your help to see it more clearly, and to share it with clarity as well. For the sake of the Name I pray, Amen.
