SCRIPTURE: 2 Sam. 10; 1 Chr. 19-20; Ps. 20; Matt. 22
“Then he told his servants, ‘We have a wedding banquet all prepared but no guests. The ones I invited weren’t up to it. Go out into the busiest intersections in town and invite anyone you find to the banquet.’ The servants went out on the streets and rounded up everyone they laid eyes on, good and bad, regardless. And so the banquet was on—every place filled.
Matthew 22:8-10
OBSERVATIONS: Was the king making a point to those who didn’t come? Was the king repenting of only inviting the ones who “mattered” and recognizing the worth of the least and the last?
APPLICATION: Joey, no matter what the motivations of the king, you’re not the decider. You’re the servant sent to round up everyone you lay eyes on, good and bad, regardless. Fill the places. Open up the banquet.
PRAYER: God, free me from the mistaken notion that I am the inviter. Your invitations are simply conveyed through me, and I have zero rights to withhold any of them. Send me on behalf of the Christ. Amen.
