SCRIPTURE: Josh. 18-20; 1 Cor. 9

Joshua 20:4
“A person shall escape for refuge to one of these cities, stand at the entrance to the city gate, and lay out his case before the city’s leaders. The leaders must then take him into the city among them and give him a place to live with them.”

OBSERVATIONS: This passage refers to the one with “blood guilt,” or one who has committed manslaughter. But it sure sounds nice, to have a place of rest and sanctuary.

APPLICATION: Seek out a place of rest and sanctuary. Pray a little longer, and seek God’s care for those worn and bruised places.

PRAYER: I hurt, Lord. I ache for those who are suffering illness and brokenness. And while my hurts aren’t as bad as theirs, I’m crazy not to raise my head as love is passing by. In your mercy, I find my rest. And in your rest, I find strength to go on. Because of Christ, and through Him, I pray. Amen.
