Scripture: Job 19; Mark 1-2
Mark 1:27-28
Everyone there was incredulous, buzzing with curiosity. “What’s going on here? A new teaching that does what it says? He shuts up defiling, demonic spirits and sends them packing!” News of this traveled fast and was soon all over Galilee.
Observations: Jesus was able to provide truth, or “teaching that does what it says.” People shouldn’t expect anything less than that from us today.
Application: In my preaching, I must be careful not to promise easy answers. In my teaching, I have to take care not to simplify or half-teach. Its not complicated to be a disciple, but it is often difficult work. But it is effective.
Prayer: God, make me effective in my work by keeping the truth right in front of me at all times. Amen.
