Say what?

“Christology” is simply “how Christ’s role and purpose are defined.” This is important because Christ can be seen in so many roles. Healer, teacher, sacrifice, Son of God, son of men, leader, servant, political activist, exorcist, and so on.

N.T. Wright writes considerably of the nature of God’s Son. You can read much of Wright’s work at the N.T. Wright page.

His treatment of Jesus and his role as the Christ helps to bring some of the more puzzling scriptures in line. The story of God and God’s interactions with humanity come into clear focus when one discovers the role and purpose of Jesus Christ in terms of the human element and the cosmic and divine role of the Son of God.

Grounding your understanding in Christ will give a broader context to your reading, and will help you to understand more of what you read.
