SCRIPTURE: 2 Sam. 15-16; Ps. 32; Matt. 25

“‘Take the thousand and give it to the one who risked the most. And get rid of this “play-it-safe” who won’t go out on a limb. Throw him out into utter darkness.’

Matthew 25:28-30 MSG

OBSERVATIONS: This parable seems to chastise cautiousness and reward risk. The hard part is knowing what the tone is, and whether the king in question is the King of Heaven or an earthly king. In what are we investing our time? In whom are we investing time?

APPLICATION: Joey, whether you’re investing in your financial future or the people around you, do it in a way that honors God. The return on the investment should be paid forward. Let the investment reward the right and the good.

PRAYER: God, bless the resources you’ve given me; bless their coming to me and bless their going from me so that, in all things, your name might be lifted high. For the sake of the Christ I ask it. Amen.
