SCRIPTURE: 2 Sam. 2; 1 Chr. 11; Ps. 142; Matt. 14

Abner called out to Joab, “Are we going to keep killing each other till doomsday? Don’t you know that nothing but bitterness will come from this? How long before you call off your men from chasing their brothers?”

2 Samuel 2:26

OBSERVATIONS: Abner had just killed Joab’s brother. He realized that the bitterness was at an all-time high, and could only be made worse.

APPLICATION: Joey, sometimes, you must quit while you’re behind. The fight doesn’t have to be a fight. Seek an end to hostilities and move towards something more productive.

PRAYER: God, still my warring spirit. Teach me that winning and losing are only the first and most apparent answers in a fight. Let our issues become opportunities for conversation. I ask it for Christ’s sake. Amen.
