SCRIPTURE: Ezekiel 25-28; Revelation 10

Revelation 10:8-11
The voice out of Heaven spoke to me again: “Go, take the book held open in the hand of the Angel astride sea and earth.” I went up to the Angel and said, “Give me the little book.” He said, “Take it, then eat it. It will taste sweet like honey, but turn sour in your stomach.” I took the little book from the Angel’s hand and it was sweet honey in my mouth, but when I swallowed, my stomach curdled. Then I was told, “You must go back and prophesy again over many peoples and nations and languages and kings.”

OBSERVATIONS: The Word of God can be sweet when first ingested, but when one realizes that it calls for life-change, submission, obedience, transformation, and selflessness, it can turn the stomach of one unprepared for the sacrifice of self, the delay and deletion of dreams, and the discomfort of becoming.

APPLICATION: Joey, you are not complete without Me. You have miles to go and much to learn. Don’t be surprised when the Word curdles your stomach. The sweetness of the Book you are devouring should remind you of the goal I have in mind for you.

PRAYER: God, I’m bent over double. The pain in my heart and soul comes from the brokenness around me acting upon the brokenness within me. But I can feel that changing. And, with it, my own transformation. Less of me; more of You. Let my words and actions be those of Your choosing. I pray in the name of the Christ, Amen.
