SCRIPTURE: 2 Sam. 18; Ps. 56; Matt. 27
They don’t let up—
Psalm 56:5-6 MSG
they smear my reputation
and huddle to plot my collapse.
They gang up,
sneak together through the alleys
To take me by surprise,
wait their chance to get me.
OBSERVATIONS: Character assassination and smearing of reputations is nothing new. When ideas and words fail, lies become a part of the toolkit for those unable to make their point.
APPLICATION: Joey, it isn’t cynical to expect the worst behavior from human beings. But it is cynical to expect the worst behavior from all human beings.
PRAYER: God, let those who love us, love us. And those who don’t, please turn their hearts. And if you’re not able to turn their hearts, would that you might turn their ankles so we’ll know them by their limping. In the name of the Christ I pray. Amen.
